Joliet Area Executive Couple/
Ecclesial Team

Chuck and Nancy Wallace
and Fr. Gerry Riva

We were married in 1973 and have three children, two of whom are married – Karen, and her husband Kevin, Kristen, and her husband Gerry, and Patrick.  We also have three grandchildren – Morgan, Charlie and Lily.  We are members of Immaculate Conception Parish in Elmhurst.  We attended our Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend in 1987 and have presented over 50 weekends since.  We previously served as Executive Couple with Father Tom Griffith in the early 1990’s.  Our weekend was a real blessing to our marriage and through our daily dialogue we are able to enrich our relationship every day.  We’ve also been blessed to have been able to meet so many great couples and priests along our journey and we hope to meet many more in the years ahead.

Father Gerry Riva has been a priest for 42 years and is currently the Pastor at St. Scholastica Parish in Woodridge.  He attended his Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend in August 2001 and has been presenting weekends in the Joliet Diocese for the past five years.  We first met Father Gerry in 1987 when he became the Pastor at Immaculate Conception and we have been blessed with a great friendship ever since.   It is our privilege to serve with him as your Executive Team in the Joliet Diocese.

Our vision is to offer to all married couples and priests the opportunity to attend a Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend, and then to provide for them an ongoing community experience that continues to nurture the relationships that are so intimate on Sunday afternoon of the weekends.  We want all encountered couples and priests to be able to develop relationships in communities that are uplifting, fun and intimate.  We know that together we will be able to continue to work on this vision and experience a better world for our Church and our families.  As the love that each of you have for each other continues to shine out to others, we know that our dream will occur one couple and one priest at a time.
